Jackson Hole Western Design Conference Events Include Designer Manuel?s State Jackets, artist Dwayne Harty and Jewelry/Fashion Show, Sept. 8-11

An exhibition of state-themed jackets by celebrity designer Manuel and a presentation by artist Dwayne Harty will be special events of this year?s Western Design Conference (WDC) at the Snow King Events Center in Jackson, Wyoming. The 2011 Western Design Conference, September 8 ? 11, is the foremost exhibition and celebration of what is happening in the world of Western furniture, fashion, and home accessories with a lineup of events including its annual jewelry and fashion show and gallery-style exhibit and sale of American West-inspired decorative arts. The WDC is a signature event of the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival.


Artist Dwayne Harty, commissioned by the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y) to paint wildlife and landscapes throughout the remote mountain migratory corridor, will give a lecture at the conference on Thursday, September 8 at 2 p.m. Harty also is featured poster artist of the 2011 Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival


Beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday evening, the WDC?s Gala Event at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts will begin with a live model jewelry show and champagne reception, followed by an auction of donated works by past WDC award winners, a presentation of this year?s Design Excellence awards, and the runway fashion show in the Center Theater. The popular annual fashion show features Western-genre couture collections from up-and-coming and established fashion designers and is followed by a gala reception.


From Friday through Saturday, September 9 ? 11, 114 jury-selected artisans will unveil one-of-a-kind works of wood, metal, leather, textiles, fashion, jewelry and accents in the conference?s gallery-like exhibit and sale from 8 a.m. ? 10 p.m. daily. Also on display during this year?s exhibit and sale are Nashville celebrity costume designer Manuel?s collection of sparkling red, white and blue jackets sewn in tribute to the 50 states, previously shown in venues from Nashville?s Frist Center to New York City?s Olympus Fashion Week.


The 19th Annual Exhibit + Sale is a four-day, multi-million-dollar event featuring one-of-a-kind works of museum quality functional art on display and for purchase.
